Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide safe and effective medication administration and support to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care, medical documentation, and medication protocols, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for individuals with diverse needs, including those with dementia, Alzheimer's, or developmental disabilities. The Certified Medication Aide will work closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver personalized care in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical standards.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols
- Monitor and document residents' vital signs, responses to medications, and overall health status
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding as needed
- Maintain detailed medical records using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Observe and report any adverse reactions or changes in residents' condition to nursing staff
- Ensure medication storage complies with safety standards and HIPAA regulations
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, or memory care activities
- Follow infection control procedures and maintain a clean environment in accordance with healthcare guidelines
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for residents
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide in accordance with state regulations
- Experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and patient care procedures
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous
- Experience caring for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or developmental disabilities is highly desirable
- Ability to work effectively with seniors and individuals requiring hospice or memory care services
- Strong communication skills and compassionate approach to caregiving
- Ability to adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain confidentiality of medical records
- Prior experience with medical documentation, vital signs measurement, catheter care, and medication administration is essential
