The Cashier – Pink is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service by taking and processing food and beverage orders, preparing beverages and light food items, and maintaining cleanliness and stock of the service area. This position ensures accuracy, efficiency, and consistency while upholding AAA Four Diamond standards and Morongo's "BEST of the Best" guest service culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and serves a full range of hot and cold beverages — including coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and blended beverages — in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Prepares and serves light food items, pastries, grab-and-go selections, and meals from steamers and kitchen equipment while maintaining consistency, quality, and visual appeal.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation standards, to assist guests with accuracy and confidence.
  • Greets guests promptly and provides courteous, professional, and knowledgeable service throughout their visit.
  • Accurately operates the point-of-sale (POS) system, processes food and beverage transactions, and handles payments, discounts, and comps in accordance with company policies.
  • Takes, calls out, and delivers food and beverage orders promptly, ensuring correct presentation and adherence to service standards.
  • Restocks and organizes inventory, pastry cases, grab-and-go items, beverages, utensils, and supplies to maintain operational readiness and efficiency.
  • Lifts, moves, and transports stock, crates of beverages, boxes of supplies, and other items as needed to support daily operations.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of counters, beverage stations, service areas, dining spaces, and behind-the-counter workstations at all times.
  • Sweeps, mops, wipes down tables, and removes trash to ensure a clean and safe environment for guests and team members.
  • Ensures full compliance with all food safety, health, and sanitation standards, including proper handling, storage, and cleaning procedures for food, utensils, and equipment.
  • Performs opening, side work, and closing duties in accordance with operational guidelines to maintain efficiency and readiness.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support overall department operations and guest satisfaction.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with coworkers, management, and guests.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • High regard for guest service and a positive team-oriented mindset.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional coursework in customer service, retail operations, or accounting is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a retail or customer service environment.
  • Experience operating point-of-sale (POS) systems, handling cash and credit transactions, and processing returns or exchanges.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy in cash handling, and ability to follow store procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Ability to multitask and remain professional in a fast-paced retail setting.
  • Prior experience in a branded apparel or lifestyle store is preferred.
  • Experience in a casino, resort, or high-traffic retail venue is a plus.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly, courteously, and professionally with guests, coworkers, and supervisors; responsible for processing transactions, answering questions, and delivering a positive guest experience at the point of sale.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifts and carries shopping bags, merchandise, hangers, and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds; may assist with restocking and maintaining front-end displays.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently uses hands and fingers to scan items, operate POS systems, handle cash and credit cards, fold merchandise, and issue receipts and packaging.
  • Mobility: Regularly moves between the register area, sales floor, and stockroom; requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching during the majority of the shift.
  • Stationary Work: Frequently remains standing at a register for extended periods while performing checkout duties and interacting with guests.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of POS terminals, credit card machines, tagging tools, phones, and standard cashiering equipment; must follow proper cash handling procedures.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires near vision to scan items, read pricing, verify transactions, and handle change accurately; far vision needed to observe guest cues and maintain area awareness.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely works in a high-traffic retail environment with exposure to bright lighting, background music, and guest interaction. Regular exposure to a smoking environment while transitioning through casino or public areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
