Title: Elementary Interventionist Teacher (K-5)

Reports To: Director of Curriculum & Instruction and Elementary Principal

General Responsibilities

The Interventionist Teacher will work closely with students and teachers to provide a Christ-centered and educationally sound reading and math intervention programs. The teacher will pull 5 students at a time into his/her classroom to work with them on targeted skills.

The qualified individual must be an evangelical Christian committed to living a Biblical lifestyle. He/she is expected to demonstrate patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing his or her day-to-day duties.

He/she must be devoted to prayerful work with administration, faculty, students, and parents to support the spiritual and academic growth of students. He/she will primarily focus on student reading and math interventions, providing support and professional development for classroom teachers, and on collecting/evaluating reading and math data. This part time role will likely be Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:45-3:30.

Job Responsibilities

Promote Flourishing Students Through Purpose

  • Develop and carry out the mission and vision of the school in a thoroughly Christian manner.

  • Integrate biblical principles and Christian philosophy throughout English and Bible instruction.

Promote Flourishing Students Through Best Educational Practices

  • Teach assigned Intervention classes following the prescribed scope and sequence.
  • Plan and implement reading and math intervention groups for all students identified to be at risk. Most intervention groups are pull-out small groups planned by the Intervention Team. Some groups may push-in when it is the best support for the student and teacher.
  • Collaborate with the Intervention Team to plan the best support for all students.
  • Collaborate with the Intervention Team to communicate daily lesson plans, grades, and report card comments.
  • Provide support and professional development for classroom teachers.
  • Administer DIBELS, 95 Percent Group, and other assessments to all K-5 students.
  • Help facilitate events to engage the parent community with their child's literacy.
  • Stay current in teaching methodologies and subject content.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and a positive learning environment.
  • Create a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom.
  • Plan instruction that meets individual student needs and encourages excellence.
  • Use a variety of instructional methods and materials to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
  • Assess student learning regularly and provide timely feedback.
  • Prepare thoroughly for daily and long-term instruction.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Update lesson plans and course maps in the school system.
  • Align instruction with school-adopted standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Promote Flourishing Students Through Relationships

  • Respond promptly to student and parent inquiries.
  • Participate in devotionals, professional development, and faculty meetings.
  • Communicate student concerns to administration.
  • Supervise extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Support school events and programs.

Promote Flourishing Students Through Expertise and Resources

  • Follow school policies and procedures.
  • Understand emergency protocols and mandated reporting requirements.
  • Notify administration promptly of any inability to fulfill duties.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain updated certification and credentials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisors.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $24,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 23 per week
