About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines that support our data ingestion, transformation, and storage needs on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Snowflake. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver scalable data solutions that drive strategic decision-making. Your expertise will be vital in optimizing existing data architectures for performance, scalability, and reliability, ensuring data integrity and quality across all processes. The ideal candidate will stay updated on emerging data engineering technologies and incorporate best practices into our data infrastructure, contributing to GXO's mission of engineering smarter, faster supply chains.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in designing and building data pipelines on cloud platforms, preferably GCP and Snowflake
- Expertise in modern data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, including Snowpipe Streaming, Warehouse Optimization, and clustering
- Experience with real-time data processing using Kafka is highly preferred
- Proficiency in Python scripting for data manipulation and integration tasks
- Strong command of advanced SQL techniques for querying, transformation, and performance tuning
- Knowledge of data modeling best practices, including star schemas, snowflake schemas, and normalization techniques
- Hands-on experience in designing, building, and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines using dbt
- Experience with Apache Airflow for building, deploying, and managing DAGs
- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly GitHub, for collaboration and code management
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Superset, Looker, or Python visualization libraries (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Understanding of data privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations to ensure compliance
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines supporting data ingestion, transformation, and storage on GCP and Snowflake
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver tailored data solutions
- Optimize and enhance the performance, scalability, and reliability of existing data pipelines
- Implement best practices for data quality, validation, and testing to maintain data accuracy and integrity
- Create comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, architecture, and workflows to facilitate knowledge sharing and support
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering, integrating relevant innovations into our architecture
- Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and internal policies concerning data security and privacy
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve data processes and infrastructure
