Position Summary
We are a fast-scaling, tech-forward aviation insurance leader with an incredible culture, a legacy brand, and big ambitions for the next decade.As we continue expanding, we are looking for a high-caliber HR Manager to support our people, elevate our culture, and keep our operations fully compliant across multiple states.

What You'll Do:
HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee Gusto payroll processing (multi-state)
- Maintain compliance with California employment law and nationwide state-specific requirements
- Develop, maintain, and enforce HR policies and SOPs
- Manage employee files, onboarding/offboarding, and recordkeeping
- Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and vendor coordination
- Guide managers and employees on performance, conduct, compensation, and HR standards
- Respond to employee concerns with fairness, professionalism, and confidentiality
Culture & Engagement
- Elevate culture across all offices (California, Alaska, remote)
- Host monthly virtual team events (culture sessions, recognition, engagement)
- Support leadership in creating a positive, united workforce
- Roll out employee engagement initiatives, surveys, feedback loops
- Support PTO tracking and attendance management systems
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
- Recruit specialized insurance, aviation, and technical talent
- Screen candidates, run interviews, and support hiring managers
- Create compelling job postings for niche roles
- Manage reference checks, offer letters, onboarding, and transitions
- Partner with CEO and team leads on ongoing talent needs
Employee Relations & Support
- Conduct check-ins, employee meetings, and professional development sessions
- Mediate issues with fairness and clarity when concerns arise
- Advise leadership on employee satisfaction, retention, and performance trends
- Protect the integrity and wellbeing of the organization and its people
Leadership Collaboration:
- Report directly to the CEO
- Attend weekly leadership meetings
- Support departmental leads
- Provide strategic input on staffing, structure, and culture
- Help shape the HR function for the next decade of growth
Who You Are:
- Experienced HR generalist or manager
- Strong in California employment law
- Knowledgeable in multi-state HR requirements
- Gusto payroll expert (or similar platforms)
- Exceptional communicator and people-person
- Organized, proactive, trustworthy, dependable
- Comfortable in fast-growing, entrepreneurial environments
- Confident leading employee relations
- Enjoy helping a growing team thrive
- Passionate about culture, talent development, and compliance
- Able to come to our Corona office 2–4 times per month
- Comfortable working remotely the rest of the time
