Job Summary

This position exists to provide a clean, safe, and healthy environment to all Perpich Center for Arts Education customers by performing general maintenance duties regularly and specifically assigned maintenance and repair activities. Responsibilities include building cleaning duties for all areas of the agency building and grounds; cleaning a variety of spaces, including common areas, residential dormitory, lobbies and entries, elevator, hallways, and restrooms.

General Maintenance Workers also perform routine preventative maintenance on custodial equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation, such as minor repairs to vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, floor scrubbers, etc. Clean outside building entrances, sweep, remove snow and ice, and empty trash containers. Provide light maintenance to buildings, maintain lighting fixtures, replace light bulbs, and assist in seasonal cleaning projects as assigned. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Move furniture and/or equipment within and between buildings. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience safely performing a variety of cleaning tasks and procedures.
  • Understanding how to use cleaning equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, administrators, supervisors, and visitors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of basic emergency procedures.
  • Knowledge of wax floor refinishing techniques.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50lbs. occasionally while stooping, bending, standing, turning and/or moving. Work on a ladder.
