Lab Technician

Purpose:

• Hands on position supporting manufacturing, the plant management, customers, and the technical / quality team utilizing overall quality control, analytical instrumentation, and wet chemical test methods.
• Organize data, report data, and complete sampling programs.
• Perform verifications and calibrations on instrumentation.
• Deputy duties to back up the Lab Manager, as necessary.

Essential Functions of Job:

• Observe and adhere to all safety regulations; be safety conscious; ensure safe practices are followed by those around you.
• Analyze submitted samples and projects using Analytical techniques and instrumentation, including TGA and other general laboratory equipment.
• Complete data input and general analysis reporting in a timely manner communicating findings to the requester, as necessary.
• Maintain detailed logs of all findings and report this data in the designated database.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Leadership skills to drive timely completion of testing, data input, and communicating quality issues to the plant floor / management.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, multiple priorities Lab. Flexibility necessary.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit. Frequently must squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward. Frequently lifts and/or moves twenty-five pounds. Able to always stay alert.

Work Environment:

• Works indoors and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat.
