Job Overview: Sunnies Poolside Bar & Restaurant is seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team as we continue to refine our offering and then gear up for a busy pool season. We're looking for someone organized, adaptable, and excited to operate a food program within a dynamic restaurant and event space. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and passionate about food quality, team leadership, and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen. This role is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, managing staff, controlling costs, and ensuring high standards of food safety and consistency. You'll work closely with our General Manager and the ownership team to continue to improve our offerings with ample room for creative input and menu autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food prep, cooking, and plating

Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff

Ensure all food meets quality, taste, and presentation standards

Maintain food safety, sanitation, and health code compliance

Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships

Control food and labor costs to meet budget goals

Develop and update prep lists, recipes, and kitchen procedures

Handle equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed

Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture

Qualifications

Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Cook, or similar role

Strong leadership and communication skills

Self-starter who communicates clearly and works well with others

Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation standards

Catering and event experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Experience with inventory management and cost control

Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented

Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays

Preferred Skills

ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification

Experience with scheduling and kitchen management software

Menu development or recipe costing experience
