About UniEliCare

UniEliCare is a specialized telehealth platform connecting families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities to experienced healthcare professionals and support specialists throughout Maryland. We're building a comprehensive network of dedicated professionals who understand the unique needs of children with I/DD and their families.

Position Overview

We are seeking compassionate, experienced Direct Support Professionals to join our platform as independent contractors. You'll provide virtual consultations and support services to families, helping them navigate daily challenges, implement behavior strategies, develop life skills, and access resources for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Contractor Model

  • Independent Contractor Status: Set your own schedule and consultation rates
  • Competitive Compensation: Retain 80 of consultation fees
  • Flexible Hours: Work when and how much you want
  • Virtual Platform: Provide services from anywhere in USA.
  • Administrative Support: We handle billing, scheduling platform, and client matching

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct virtual consultations with families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Provide guidance on daily living skills, behavior management, and adaptive strategies
  • Offer emotional support and practical advice to families navigating I/DD challenges
  • Share resources and community connections relevant to families' needs
  • Develop individualized support recommendations based on each child's unique profile
  • Maintain detailed, HIPAA-compliant consultation notes
  • Collaborate with families' existing care teams when appropriate

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of direct experience working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Current DSP certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong understanding of various intellectual and developmental disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable with telehealth technology and virtual platforms
  • Located in Maryland
  • Clear background check and child abuse clearances

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field (Human Services, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work)
  • Experience with behavior management techniques and positive behavior supports
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish, particularly valued)
  • Experience with specific populations (non-verbal children, medically complex children, etc.)
  • Training in trauma-informed care
