Day Dispatch Manager

Apet Inc. is looking for a driven and self-motivated individual that is knowledgeable on DOT regulations, to join our team. The candidate will report to our Transportation Manager and work closely to maintain a finely tuned operation. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced exhilarating environment.

Monday - Friday 7am-4pm

Duties and responsibilities:

• Clearly understand and comply with all federal, state, and safety regulations, including FMCSA rules related to drivers and vehicles.
• Ensure all equipment meets DOT requirements to support safe and compliant deliveries.
• Collaborate with management and mechanics to maintain full compliance.
• Develop proficiency in Apet routing and logistics systems.
• Audit all pre- and post-trip inspection reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate scheduled deliveries and pickups, communicate with drivers, and adjust routes as needed to minimize delays.
• Assign vehicles and dispatch routes efficiently to maximize staff and equipment utilization.
• Communicate regularly with departments such as Sales and Purchasing to relay updates on delivery and pickup timeliness.
• Provide training to drivers and assist in implementing disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Monitor GPS and camera systems to address safety events in real time; prepare and send daily safety activity reports.
• Review weekly driver schedules and make written recommendations to improve efficiency and prevent safety or hours-of-service violations.
• Supervise drivers to ensure adherence to Apet delivery standards and safety protocols.
• Prepare and maintain required reports; demonstrate strong proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
• Track and communicate the progress of all routes and deliveries.
• Promptly notify the Sales team in writing of any known delays or delivery issues.
• Review, respond to, and document all safety alerts.
• Document and report all necessary equipment repairs.
• Schedule and coordinate all inbound shipment recoveries.
• Prepare weekly driver schedules and collaborate with the team to improve efficiency and reduce overtime.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of verifiable dispatch or logistics experience.
• Willing to work in-person, NO REMOTE/HYBRID
• MUST have DOT experience
• Have valid Class D driver license with a clean record.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
• Be able to lift in excess of 50lbs
