Position Title: Youth Coordinator Reports To: Director

Job Status: Full-Time / Exempt Direct Reports: Youth Team

Description of this role: Responsible for assessing and assisting fathers participating in the Fathers' Support Center programs. Develop individual self-sufficiency plans which will help fathers become emotionally involved and financially responsible for their children.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities - includes the following and other related duties may be assigned.

  • Become acquainted with youth curriculum and be able to tailor curriculum to meet youth needs.
  • Assist with identifying achievable goals, barriers, provides personal support and counsel to participants achieving identified goals.
  • Assist with presenting educational materials, information, and outlets to youth on social issues that they are faced with on a regular basis (self-esteem, values, teen pregnancy prevention, substance abuse awareness, peer pressure, violence prevention, and other related topics)
  • Serve as liaison between youths, home, school, family services, courts, and others to help resolve youth issues and daily life problems.
  • Collect documentation from youths and involved entities to maintain case history, records, and reports.
  • Develops and maintains network of community resources and social support systems as necessary to assist individuals and their children/families to move to self-sufficiency.
  • Observes parent/child interactions and processes child abuse/neglect applications as needed.
  • Review and possess a working knowledge of all programs, forms, and grants related to your duties.
  • Serves as the back-up for the Director of Youth Services as needed.
  • Attends all staff meetings, department meetings, and community fairs, as necessary. Travel as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have knowledge of human behavior, performance, differences, personality, and interests.
  • Must be knowledgeable of current issues affecting and be able to relate to at-risk youth.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communications skills with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to utilize agency and community resources to meet goals.
  • Must be able to organize, present information, be team oriented, work independently, and able to multitask.
  • Must understand and practice the NASW code of ethics and be familiar with MS Office Suite.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • BSW or B.S. in Human Services or related required. MSW preferred.
  • Must have experience in working with at-risk populations and prior work with group facilitation, individual and family counseling
  • Must possess a valid Missouri driver's license and have a reliable, insured vehicle.
