Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Night Shift Charge Nurse (LPN/RN) to oversee patient care during overnight hours. This leadership role requires a strong background in various nursing specialties, including critical care, geriatrics, and emergency medicine. The ideal candidate will be proficient in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth, with extensive experience in medical documentation, patient assessment, and complex clinical procedures. As a Charge Nurse, you will coordinate nursing staff, ensure compliance with healthcare standards, and deliver exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. Duties
- Lead and supervise nursing staff during the night shift, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and manage advanced procedures such as catheterization, ventilator management, and airway management.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and post-acute care transitions.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Monitor patients with complex conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, infectious diseases, or those requiring hospice or palliative care.
- Manage acute pain cases and respond promptly to emergencies including trauma cases typical of Level I/II Trauma Centers or ICU settings.
- Oversee infection control practices and aseptic techniques to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
- Provide guidance on medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Support staff training on new protocols or equipment such as medical imaging devices or specialized treatment techniques like dermal fillers or botulinum toxin treatments.
Experience
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU, Emergency Room, or Level I/II Trauma Centers is preferred.
- Extensive background working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (PICU), neonatal (neonatal ventilator), adults in medical-surgical units, geriatrics (geriatrics & memory care), and behavioral health settings.
- Demonstrated competence in advanced nursing procedures including phlebotomy, suturing, tube feeding management, dialysis support, and sterile processing techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth; proficiency in medical documentation standards is essential.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to perform accurate patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
- Experience working with special populations such as individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring specialized therapies like occupational health or home & community care services.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations involving acute pain management or urgent care scenarios while maintaining excellent patient safety standards. Pay: $ $47.00 per hour
