The Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center with Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus Behavioral Health Services constitutes a freestanding 100-bed acute care psychiatric facility which provides inpatient and intensive outpatient programs for adults and older adults diagnosed with psychiatric and dual disorders.
Job Overview:
The Patient Care Associate (also referred to as PCA) is a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. The PCA works under the direct supervision of the registered nurse to provide care to patients with diverse psychiatric illnesses. All methods of practice and/or work performance shall conform to written established hospital policies and procedures and be carried to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration.
Qualifications:
Required :
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
- Require a minimum of one-year experience as a PCA working with geriatric patients
Preferred :
- CNA certification
- Previous experience as a Nurse Aide, Home Health Aide, or Patient Care Technician
- New Jersey State certification as a PCA
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day shift
- Per Diem
- Every other weekend required
Essential Functions:
- Take and record vital signs
- Assisting patients with ADL's
- Assists with nutritional needs of patients
- Completes personal hygiene for assigned patients
- Provide one to one and group supervision of patients
- Transports patients to ancillary departments and emergency rooms
