Pay: $17-$23 per hour (dependent on experience)

Who We Are Looking For:
Star Autism Academy is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and energetic Educational Assistant to support students with autism and other developmental needs in a classroom setting. This individual will work closely with lead teachers and therapists to provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, honest, trustworthy, and enthusiastic about helping every child thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the lead teacher in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Provide small group direct instruction as directed by the teacher
- Assist students with daily living skills, communication, and socialization
- Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS)
- Ensure student safety and engagement throughout the day
- Accurately collect and report data on student progress and behavior
- Supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions)
- Maintain confidentiality and always demonstrate professional conduct
- Collaborate respectfully with the instructional team, therapists, and families
- Physically assist students, including lifting to 50 pounds as needed for transfers, mobility, or safety
- Model appropriate behavior and language for students
- Maintain a clean, organized, and supportive classroom environment
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children, especially those with special needs
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent in attendance and follow-through
- Calm and patient in high-energy or emotionally intense situations
- Able to take initiative and follow directions independently
- Must have fingerprint clearance card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with autism, ABA, or special education classrooms
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Training in behavioral support or Handle With Care (or willingness to be trained)
- Familiarity with data collection and progress monitoring tools

Pay: $ $23.00 per hour
