Pay: $17-$23 per hour (dependent on experience)

Who We Are Looking For:

Star Autism Academy is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and energetic Educational Assistant to support students with autism and other developmental needs in a classroom setting. This individual will work closely with lead teachers and therapists to provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, honest, trustworthy, and enthusiastic about helping every child thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the lead teacher in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Provide small group direct instruction as directed by the teacher
• Assist students with daily living skills, communication, and socialization
• Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS)
• Ensure student safety and engagement throughout the day
• Accurately collect and report data on student progress and behavior
• Supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions)
• Maintain confidentiality and always demonstrate professional conduct
• Collaborate respectfully with the instructional team, therapists, and families
• Physically assist students, including lifting to 50 pounds as needed for transfers, mobility, or safety
• Model appropriate behavior and language for students
• Maintain a clean, organized, and supportive classroom environment

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with children, especially those with special needs
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable, punctual, and consistent in attendance and follow-through
• Calm and patient in high-energy or emotionally intense situations
• Able to take initiative and follow directions independently
• Must have fingerprint clearance card

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with autism, ABA, or special education classrooms
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Training in behavioral support or Handle With Care (or willingness to be trained)
• Familiarity with data collection and progress monitoring tools
