Emergency Shelter SupervisorPosition Summary

The Emergency Shelter Supervisor oversees daily operations of the shelter to ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all residents. This role provides on site leadership, supervises staff, monitors program compliance, and coordinates with internal teams and community partners. The supervisor ensures that all residents receive consistent care, crisis support, and services aligned with agency standards and state regulations.

Key ResponsibilitiesShelter Operations

  • Maintain smooth daily operations including admissions, discharges, shift transitions, safety checks, and documentation
  • Ensure shelter routines, schedules, and expectations are followed by staff and residents
  • Oversee the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the shelter environment
  • Monitor medication storage, supplies, food inventory, and safety materials

Leadership and Staff Oversight

  • Supervise direct care staff and provide coaching, support, and corrective guidance as needed
  • Lead shift briefings, assign responsibilities, and verify completion of required documentation
  • Provide real time direction during behavioral escalations or emergencies
  • Support onboarding and training of new staff

Resident Support and Crisis Response

  • Support residents by reinforcing expectations, providing guidance, and maintaining a calm therapeutic environment
  • Respond to crises using trauma informed care and de escalation strategies
  • Complete incident reports, critical event summaries, and appropriate follow up actions

Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure staff complete TLogs, daily notes, MAR entries, and service documentation before the end of each shift
  • Audit logs, attendance records, safety drills, and program documentation for accuracy
  • Maintain compliance with licensing standards, contractual requirements, and internal agency policies
  • Elevate urgent concerns or noncompliance to leadership promptly

Coordination and Communication

  • Serve as the on site point of contact for case managers, law enforcement, clinicians, and emergency partners
  • Communicate clearly with leadership regarding resident needs, behavioral trends, staffing gaps, and operational issues
  • Participate in internal meetings, staff development, and program reviews

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Willingness to participate in on call rotations and respond to emergencies
  • Ability to work split shifts when required to maintain safe staffing coverage
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility in supporting program operations

Qualifications

  • Experience in shelter services, behavioral health, residential care, crisis response, or social services
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Ability to remain calm, confident, and effective in high pressure situations
  • Familiarity with documentation standards and state regulations
  • Must meet all background check, training, and credentialing requirements

Pay: $ $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week

Education:

  • Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

  • child welfare: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • MANDT (Preferred)
  • VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE (Required)
