Lead with compassion. Manage with purpose.

Mercy Convent is a retirement residence for the Sisters of Mercy — women who have dedicated their lives to mission, service, and faith. We are seeking a thoughtful, experienced Convent Administrator to oversee day-to-day operations, nurture a sense of hospitality and community, and ensure high-quality care and support for the Sisters who live here.

About Us:

The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas are committed to responding to the needs of people who are poor, sick, and uneducated. Our employees are part of a values-driven community rooted in mercy, justice, hospitality, and compassion. The Convent Administrator is a key leader in making sure that spirit is present every day — not just in what we do, but in how we do it.

What You'll Do:

Leadership & Oversight

  • Manage daily operations across departments: dining, housekeeping, grounds, healthcare support, and sister services
  • Create and sustain a welcoming, mission-aligned environment
  • Support transitions, illness, grief, and end-of-life care in collaboration with our healthcare team

Personnel Management

  • Hire, train, and support staff, ensuring alignment with community standards
  • Lead team meetings, manage schedules, and support positive staff culture
  • Oversee contract services and ensure compliance with policies and regulations

Spiritual & Community Life

  • Coordinate celebrations, special events, and holiday planning
  • Serve as a point of connection to the broader Mercy and local community

Resident Engagement

  • Design and support an inclusive monthly activity calendar
  • Promote emotional, physical, and social well-being
  • Help Sisters remain active and connected in ways that reflect their interests and abilities

Financial Stewardship

  • Manage annual budget and capital planning
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and general property management

What You Bring:

Required

  • 10+ years of leadership experience, preferably in care-based or nonprofit settings
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills
  • Experience with older adult populations or special care communities
  • Comfort making decisions, solving problems, and setting priorities
  • Strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Prior experience in budgeting and planning
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related leadership experience
  • Background in healthcare, religious life, social services, or pastoral care
  • Experience in nonprofit and/or faith-based organizations
