Convent Administrator
Location: Mercy Convent – Pittsburgh, PA
Schedule: Full-time, Exempt
Pay: $91, $120,000.00 per year

Mercy Convent is a retirement residence for the Sisters of Mercy — women who have dedicated their lives to mission, service, and faith. We are seeking a thoughtful, experienced Convent Administrator to oversee day-to-day operations, nurture a sense of hospitality and community, and ensure high-quality care and support for the Sisters who live here.

What You'll Do:
Leadership & Oversight
- Manage daily operations across departments: dining, housekeeping, grounds, healthcare support, and sister services
- Create and sustain a welcoming, mission-aligned environment
- Support transitions, illness, grief, and end-of-life care in collaboration with our healthcare team
Personnel Management
- Hire, train, and support staff, ensuring alignment with community standards
- Lead team meetings, manage schedules, and support positive staff culture
- Oversee contract services and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
Spiritual & Community Life
- Ensure spiritual and community life processes are prioritized and resourced
- Coordinate celebrations, special events, and holiday planning
- Serve as a point of connection to the broader Mercy and local community
Resident Engagement
- Design and support an inclusive monthly activity calendar
- Promote emotional, physical, and social well-being
- Help Sisters remain active and connected in ways that reflect their interests and abilities
Financial Stewardship
- Manage annual budget and capital planning
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and general property management
What You Bring:
Required
- 10+ years of leadership experience, preferably in care-based or nonprofit settings
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills
- Experience with older adult populations or special care communities
- Comfort making decisions, solving problems, and setting priorities
- Strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Prior experience in budgeting and planning
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related leadership experience
- Background in healthcare, religious life, social services, or pastoral care
- Experience in nonprofit and/or faith-based organizations
- Familiarity with Catholic traditions and the mission of the Sisters of Mercy
