Supervisor, Groundskeeping-SNF-TCH-Sacaton

Position Summary: Ensures attractive, well maintained, safe and healthy landscaping and maintenance of all external property by performing the following duties p e rsonally and through subordinate staff . Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.

Critical Tasks:

• Maintains exclusive focus upon the people accessing enterprise facilities and properties without significant distraction by administrative duties.
• Ensures high quality and highly efficient/reliable/safe work by all groundskeeping employees and contractors.
• Ensures proper maintenance of all living landscape features while ensuring proper irrigation, support, insect control, drainage, lighting, and removing undergrowth and damaged/dead plant aspects.
• Takes all actions necessary to preserve the health of plants, trees, shrubs, water features and decorative structures.
• Trains employees on proper and most effective groundskeeping procedures and techniques while ensuring that all training results in proper and efficient actions by employees supervised.
• Trains employees on tool use and safety as well as routine maintenance and storage.
• Maintains updated knowledge of necessary soil conditions and treatments for proper plant growth and health and takes all appropriate steps to ensure healthy and attractive landscapes within a desert environment.
• Utilizes only methods, materials and procedures reflective of desert environmental conditions while preserving water to an optimal degree.
• Ensures pleasant interactions between all staff members and the people traversing and accessing enterprise grounds.
• Utilizes chemicals as necessary in compliance with application instructions and with detailed knowledge of all Material Safety Data Sheet information and precautions.
• Maintains pathways, curb slopes, walkways and parking lots to ensure safety of access and usage by community members, employees, patients, the public, public safety personnel and visitors.
• Notifies supervisor of significant safety subjects and necessary expenditures for proper groundskeeping.
• Ensures that all employees supervised take proper environmental safety steps and precautions as it relates to insects, reptiles, rain, flooding, heat, poisonous plants, lightening and sunlight.
• Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
• Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
• Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 2 years of experience within an exterior trade field.
• 1 year of experience with multiple landscape maintenance and grounds keeping subjects.
• Prior medical environment work experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
