Barista (part-time)

Job Summary
We are seeking a number of friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Baristas to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee and customer service, providing a positive experience to our customers. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a new business in Afters, where you will be a part of shaping our culture and customer experience from the very beginning

As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing espresso drinks, smoothies, refreshers, handling food items and using the POS. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized counter-space, ensuring open/close checklists are completed during your shift.

Duties

• Prepare and serve Afters beverages according to our standard recipes.
• Operate the Skytab POS system for order processing and cash handling.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including equipment and utensils.
• Assist with any preparation and food handling as needed, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Manage time effectively to ensure timely service during peak hours.
• Handle cash transactions accurately, performing basic math calculations for change.

Skills

• Espresso machine experience is preferred.
• Excellent time management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively.
• High level customer service skills to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
• Basic math skills for accurate cash transactions.
• Familiarity with using a POS system is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work as part of a small team and support team members when needed.
• Knowledge of espresso drink preparation techniques and food handling safety practices is a plus.
