Acting as a lead worker, this position is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and decommission of the infrastructure and services that they are assigned. Coordinating and assigning work scheduled by the IT Supervisor to the employees in their team. Acts as the quality control for adherence to best practices, security principals, scalability, and supportability of the infrastructure. They work collaboratively with the IT Supervisor to ensure that the infrastructure can deliver the services our citizens need.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of an Information Technology Supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews work for conformance to technical and department standards and compliance with department goals.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, incumbents in this classification exercise lead direction over other Information Technology personnel as directed by management.
Infrastructure Governance and Lifecycle Management

  • Maintains responsibility for the design, implementation, documentation, and decommissioning of network infrastructure and services that are assigned, that meets applicable goals and objectives as defined by business and departmental objectives.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the standards, processes, procedures, of how the network is monitored, managed, and maintained.
  • Collaborates with project managers and technical services teams to identify and mitigate problems and incidents with the network infrastructure and services that are assigned.

Technology Support and Management

  • Maintains responsibility for the monitoring, management, and maintenance of the network infrastructure that they are assigned.
  • Monitors network for performance, capacity, and other potential risks.
  • Manages the network infrastructure ensuring that the configuration, capacity, security, and availability requirements are met, and exceptions are documented.
  • Maintains the network infrastructure through proactive patching, lifecycle replacement and routine maintenance.
  • Ensures that maintenance downtime is communicated to all appropriate personnel and change management procedures are followed.

Infrastructure Support

  • Provides technical support for the network infrastructure assigned.
  • Collaborates with Support Operations, Development, and our customers to ensure that network infrastructure related incidents and problems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provides support for technical teams through documentation, guides, and acts as a subject matter expert for the network infrastructure they are assigned.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours network infrastructure support.

Technical Lead / Subject Matter Expert (SME)

  • Collaborates with IT Supervisor and other team members to derive solutions that achieve business objectives.
  • Reviews network infrastructure and services that are delivered to ensure that a high-quality product is delivered.
  • Assigns work items to other employees within the team assigned.

Miscellaneous

  • Participates in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience And Training

  • Bachelor's degree in computer systems or related area; AND
  • Four years of responsible technical experience in network administration, including two years providing lead direction over other network analysts; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.

Special Requirements

  • Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business.   • The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check, including fingerprints; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.
  • This assignment is represented by a union.
  • This is a full-time position, which is not eligible for overtime.
  • Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Skill and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; convey technical and complex information to staff; assign tasks and evaluate staff performance; troubleshoot and resolve client/user concerns and operational problems; assess capacity and future needs of network infrastructure system; perform network infrastructure installations; train and direct others in use of system; coordinate and implement projects; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with system users and other county personnel; ability to fix complex system problems with minimum impact to users.

Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; stoops; climbs 1 floor of stairs; crawls; reaches overhead; lifts and carries up to 50 lbs.; pushes and pulls up to 25 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 100 lbs.; operates a keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12 pt. font; distinguishes colors and shades; hears a normal level of speech; and works in areas that may be exposed to dust and/or blood/body fluids.
