The Parent Coordinator plays a vital role in connecting families, school staff, and community partners to support student success. Working directly with the building principal, this position strengthens parent engagement, improves communication, and helps create a welcoming and supportive environment for USD 480 families. The Parent Coordinator assists with school programs, communication, and family-focused events that build strong school–home partnerships.
Qualifications- 48 college credit hours or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual with proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing (Spanish/English preferred)
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding family needs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, to meet family needs
Family–School Liaison
- Serve as a primary liaison between families and school staff, including social workers and counselors.
- Translate oral and written communication for parents and staff.
- Make phone calls to parents regarding school information, updates, or concerns.
- Conduct home visits when necessary and appropriate.
- Communicate student and family needs or concerns to teachers and administrators
In close collaboration with the building principal, support the planning and coordination of family engagement events, including but not limited to:
- Open House / Back-to-School events
- Math and Reading Nights
- Family informational workshops (homework strategies, state assessments, district programs, community services, etc.)
- Parent classroom visits
- "Lunch at School" events
- Monthly recognition assemblies
- Other school-wide parent activities as needed
- Work with community agencies to maximize available resources and services for families.
- Support communication and access to district programs, services, and online platforms.
- Help conduct parent surveys and use results to support annual parent engagement goals.
- Maintain accurate records of parent communication and engagement.
- Assist with attendance, enrollment, and parent support processes as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by the building principal.
- School-based position within USD 480.
- Standard district hours with required flexibility for family events or meetings outside regular school times.
- Compensation based on the USD 480 Classified Salary Schedule.
- Eligible for district benefits in accordance with USD 480 policies.
