About the Role

As a Quality Technician at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in ensuring chemical processes, finished products, and operational systems meet our rigorous quality and safety standards. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to maintaining consistent product quality in a manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Calibrate test equipment daily, including pH meters, conductivity meters, and refractometers.
  • Perform inspection and testing activities as defined in QSP7.4 and enter results in Quality Assurance reports.
  • Cut sample specimens using a CNC machine for tensile testing and record results in SAP.
  • Participate in root cause identification and implement resolutions to prevent quality issues.
  • Perform titrations on process tanks to verify proper equipment operation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area to support operational efficiency.
  • Inventory quality supplies and submit requisitions when necessary.
  • Communicate quality and departmental issues to the QA Manager/QA Supervisor to determine corrective actions.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned to support departmental needs.
  • Maintain regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.

Who You Are

  • 1 year of experience in a quality environment, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of relevant SOPs.
  • Strong MS Office proficiency.
  • Basic math skills to calculate and interpret test results.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment such as pH meters, conductivity meters, and refractometers.
  • Ability to operate lab instrumentation and precision equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Abilities

  • Perform light work, exerting up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and move throughout lab and production areas.
  • Work in environments protected from weather but subject to temperature changes.
  • Work occasionally outdoors as needed for operations.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts and chemicals typical of lab and production settings.
  • Use hands and arms for handling samples and operating laboratory instruments.
  • Meet visual and auditory requirements necessary for inspections and equipment operation.

Compensation & Benefits

Below is the expected base hourly range for this position. This is a good-faith estimate; offers will vary based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.

Base hourly pay starting at $24 an hour plus the production incentive bonus.
