Position Summary

Family and General Practitioners provide comprehensive general medical care and treatment services to incarcerated individuals in accordance with Article 131 of the Education Law. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses, prescribing medications, and delivering preventive healthcare. This role may also involve supervising other medical providers and overseeing medical services for an assigned unit or program.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct complete physical examinations using standard medical instruments and equipment.
• Obtain, review, and document detailed patient medical histories.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory analyses, and imaging studies.
• Diagnose medical conditions based on clinical findings and diagnostic results.
• Prescribe and administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions.
• Provide health education on nutrition, hygiene, disease prevention, and wellness.
• Administer immunizations to prevent communicable diseases.
• Refer patients to medical specialists when necessary for advanced care.
• Provide clinical guidance to lower-level medical staff.
• May supervise and manage medical services within an assigned facility, unit, or program.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: $132, $159,116.42 per year
