Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily bus operations, assigning trips, communicating with drivers, and ensuring schedules run smoothly and safely. This role requires strong multitasking skills, clear communication, and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment. This position is being offered on a temporary basis. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance, dependability, and alignment with company standards may be considered for a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assign daily trip schedules to drivers.
- Monitor driver status, routes, and trip progress throughout the day.
- Communicate real-time updates, changes, or instructions to drivers and customers.
- Ensure all trips comply with DOT, SPAB, and company safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and dispatch reports.
- Respond to emergencies, delays, and operational challenges promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the operations team to plan staffing and charter coverage.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients, schools, and partners.
- Support drivers with questions, trip packets, and general instructions.
- Travel between company locations, bus yard, or pickup points when needed to support driver coordination and operational tasks
- Perform other administrative or operational tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Prior dispatching experience preferred (transportation, charter bus, or school bus experience a plus).
- Strong communication skills—verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of DOT and SPAB regulations (or willingness to learn).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with computers, scheduling software, and Google Workspace/Microsoft Office.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Must be available for weekends, early mornings, evenings, and on-call rotation as needed based on company needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
