Job Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to residents in an assisted living facility, working under the supervision of the Wellness Director and physicians. This role involves administering medications, monitoring health conditions, and supporting residents with their daily living activities to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resident Care:
- Provide direct nursing care to residents, including administering medications, wound care, and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and document residents' health status, including vital signs, physical conditions, and responses to treatments.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Medication Administration:
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols.
- Ensure accurate documentation of medication administration and monitor for potential side effects or adverse reactions.
- Educate residents and families about medications, including dosage, potential side effects, and proper use.
- Clinical Monitoring and Assessment:
- Perform routine assessments and monitoring of residents' health conditions, including changes in physical or mental status.
- Report any significant changes in residents' health or behavior to the Wellness Director.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of residents' care, including medical records, care plans, and incident reports.
- Ensure all documentation complies with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare reports on residents' health status and care activities as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other nursing staff, healthcare providers, and facility departments to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding care plans, health concerns, and resident needs.
- Participate in care team meetings and contribute to discussions about resident care and service improvements.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control practices, to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for residents.
- Follow facility protocols and state regulations regarding resident care and documentation.
- Assist in preparing for and participating in inspections and audits by regulatory agencies.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care and intervention.
- Follow emergency procedures and protocols to manage urgent situations effectively.
- Education and Support:
- Provide education and support to residents and their families on health management, care plans, and wellness.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Maryland.
- Proven experience as an LPN, preferably in an assisted living, long-term care, or similar healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices, medications, and treatments.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other healthcare technologies.
Pay: $ $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
