Job Summary:
The Facilities Manager is a dynamic position that sets the tone and pace for the facilities team. Ideal candidates are highly self-motivated, good-natured, excellent communicators, honest, reliable, compassionate, and highly adaptable. The EPS Facilities Department is first in the buildings every school day and the last to leave each night. The Facilities Department is split into two shifts - Day and Night. One Facilities Manager is responsible for managing each shift. Shift teams work closely and interdependently on many shared objectives to achieve the school's mission by creating safe, clean, and efficient spaces where students and staff are inspired to create their best work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- A positive ambassador for EPS – communicates positively about EPS internally and externally
- Proactively works to create and maintain positive, professional relationships throughout the community
- Demonstrates professionalism through words, actions, and appearance
- Brings up topics of importance in real-time
- Considers and suggests potential improvements to processes and deliverables
- Upholds best practices of the department through regular training and reporting system
- Supports EPS mission through executing the department's mission
- Ensures Facility Standards for safety, cleanliness, and repair are satisfied
- Has working knowledge of access control, alarm, elevator, fire, and life-safety systems
- Manages all inspections of facility systems by outside vendors
- Manages tasks for work orders through CMMS
- Performs maintenance tasks, routine inspections, and documents accordingly via CMMS
- Manages transportation dispatch of the bus fleet
- Manages outside transportation vendor to assist with special events, field trips, and daily school routes
- Vendor management of all equipment, inspections, systems, and facilities services
- Ensures classrooms and spaces are properly set for students and staff daily
- Collaborates with admins and school community regarding special event setups
- Manages details of event timing setup and tear down, door lock schedules and event-needed resources
- Proactively identifies gaps and potential conflicts in planning stage meetings with event stakeholders
- Liaises school's needs with department resources while assisting in meeting common goals
- Protects interests of the school by identifying potential safety risks
- Works with the department director to complete special projects
- Assists with emergency preparedness drills and safety programs
- Performs regular reviews for shift team members
- Backup driver in emergent situations
- Leads by example and performs manual labor as the job requires
- General building maintenance of mechanical hardware and campus
- Creates work lists for staff during holiday breaks
- Works collaboratively with Facilities team members to balance and adjust PTO for coverage on school days
- Mitigates ebbs and flows of seasons by troubleshooting blocked drains, snow days, and downed tree branches
- Manages traffic flow during special events and daily student pickup, and drop off
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 3+ years' experience in landscape, facilities, custodial, general maintenance, trades, and/or a four-year college degree in applicable fields preferred
- Demonstrated ability in leading a team preferred
- Strong people skills: ability to work around students of varying ages, faculty, parents, and other team members
- Demonstrated ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to collaborate with faculty and staff
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team for solutions
- Demonstrated ability to be highly adaptable
- Demonstrated ability to excel in customer service
Credentials and Experience
- Successful team leadership and customer service experience
- Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License
- CDL Class B a plus
- Facilities Management credential a plus
- Willingness to pursue certifications and facilities education is desirable
Compensation
- Our competitive salary range is $68,500 to $83,500 per month, based on experience.
