Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Technician / Mechanic. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of heavy-duty diesel-powered Bobcat equipment, primarily grounds maintenance, ag and construction machinery in the field (on job sites or customer property).
Duties
- Perform inspections required to determine cause of failure following established guidelines on customer and/or dealer-owned construction equipment
- Responsible for the effective repair of machine components at high levels of quality.
- Recondition and repair equipment and components.
- Plan methods and sequence of performing repairs assigned.
- Pre-order all parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs.
- Ensure all repairs are completed as assigned and the cosmetic appearance are up to standards
- Maintain the work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Maintain good working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases in repairs
- Ensure all records are legible and in compliance with established methods.
- Maintain personal appearance in a professional and neat condition. Wear all personal protective equipment, as required; and urge others to do so
- All communications with customers and co-workers are conducted in a manner reflecting respect and integrity.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during repair or testing procedures as required.
- Participate in monthly and annual training programs
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies at all times
- Any other duties as outlined by the Service Supervisor and or management of the company.
Qualifications
- Proven tenure and experience as a Diesel Technician or Mechanic within a dealership or equipment environment is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in diesel, hydraulics, construction, auto or ag equipment preferred.
- Ability to work independent of direct supervision.
- Proficiency in using online guides as well as reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Experience operating construction equipment, farm machinery or industrial equipment is advantageous.
- Knowledge of electrical systems related to vehicles and machinery is helpful.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers or team members.
- Certification from a recognized trade school or technical college in automotive technology or heavy equipment repair is preferred.
- Must have an inventory of hand tools to facilitate the assigned repairs.
Physical Requirements
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate construction equipment.
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling pounds and/or frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 20-50 pounds and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 10-20 pounds
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, grasp or pull and lift objects. Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, and crawl
- Consistently exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes, and loud noise.
