Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our elementary (K-2nd grade) team at a private school serving students with special needs.
This role involves designing and implementing individualized instruction to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in childhood development, classroom management, and curriculum development, with a passion for fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes growth and independence for all students. Duties
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and goals.
- Deliver engaging lessons across various subjects, utilizing learning technology and innovative teaching methods.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment.
- Collaborate with therapists and other specialists to support speech therapy, behavioral health, and early intervention strategies.
- Adapt curriculum content to accommodate students with disabilities, including students with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Support social-emotional development through behavior management techniques and social skills training.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, attendance, and IEP documentation in compliance with educational standards.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and strategies for continued development.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in special education, childhood development, Montessori methods, and behavioral health.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience working with children in early childhood education or preschool settings is highly desirable.
- Experience working with students who have disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in classroom management, lesson planning, behavior management, and curriculum development.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools used in special education environments.
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, behavioral therapy approaches, and early intervention programs is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and specialists.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $48, $79,000.00 per year
