Responsibilities

• Assist experienced HVAC technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration, and related equipment.
• Support the setup and teardown of HVAC systems according to schematics and design specifications.
• Learn to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans to aid in troubleshooting and system diagnostics.
• Help with plumbing connections, refrigerant handling—including ammonia refrigeration—and electrical wiring tasks under supervision.
• Operate basic tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing and welding equipment for metal fabrication or repairs.
• Conduct routine inspections of HVAC units, boilers, air conditioning systems, and appliances to identify issues early.
• Assist in property maintenance tasks related to HVAC/R systems to ensure optimal operation and safety standards are met.
• Support field service activities by transporting tools, parts, and equipment using company vehicles including drivers when applicable.
• Participate in equipment repair projects involving refrigeration systems, air conditioning units, boilers, and other mechanical components.
• Follow safety protocols diligently during all tasks while maintaining a clean work environment.

Skills

• Basic understanding of construction principles and mechanical systems.
• Experience or interest in service technician roles within HVAC or related fields such as plumbing or appliance repair.
• Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams for HVAC design and troubleshooting purposes.
• Knowledge of HVAC components including refrigerants (including ammonia refrigeration), air conditioning units, boilers, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with electrical testing tools like ohmmeters; basic electrical wiring skills preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in equipment repair and maintenance tasks.
• Welding skills or willingness to learn welding techniques for metal fabrication or repairs.
• Strong field service orientation with a focus on property maintenance and appliance troubleshooting.
• Valid driver's license for transportation needs when required.
• Understanding of safety standards related to HVAC/R work environments.
