About the Role

We're currently hiring for a front desk Patient Care Coordinator with a focus on intake and phone-based scheduling. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills who enjoys helping patients feel welcome and well-guided.

While our immediate gap is in phone-based intake and scheduling, we value cross-training across roles like optical support, billing, and pretesting. This position could be a great fit for a smart, trainable beginner or for someone with prior experience in optometry front desk, opticianry, or patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally
  • Screen vision insurance eligibility and confirm whether we are in-network
  • Walk new patients through our scheduling process and required paperwork
  • Review submitted forms for accuracy and completeness
  • Schedule appointments and follow-ups using EMR software
  • Scan and file documents, maintain accurate electronic records
  • Collaborate with the check-out/front desk team to ensure smooth patient flow
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and front desk support

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in a healthcare, optometry, or medical office setting (preferred)
  • Strong phone etiquette, customer service, and communication skills
  • Experience with EMR/EHR software (OfficeMate/Eyefinity a plus, but not required)
  • Comfortable screening insurance coverage and guiding patients through processes
  • Organized, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must pass a background check and skills assessment

Schedule

  • Full-time (37–40 hours per week)
  • Monday–Friday only
  • Office hours range from 7:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. (shifts may vary within that range)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $17–22/hour, depending on experience and skills
  • Higher rates considered for candidates with added experience or ability to assist in multiple areas
