Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled IT Technician I to join our technology support team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance, managing computer systems, and maintaining IT infrastructure to ensure seamless operations across the organization. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a solid understanding of various operating systems and network configurations. The IT Technician I will support end-users with hardware and software issues, troubleshoot network problems, and assist in maintaining security protocols.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The IT Technician I will work closely with the Director of IT and other IT department personnel to:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues across multiple platforms including Windows.
  • Respond to telephone calls, emails, and IT tickets.
  • Create user accounts and maintain end-user security in various systems.
  • Provide end-user training on hardware and software, as required.
  • Manage computer systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
  • Support and maintain IT infrastructure components such as LAN, VPNs, firewalls, and other security measures.
  • Assist users with desktop support tasks via help desk.
  • Troubleshoot software issues related to Windows operating systems and applications like Microsoft Office.
  • Configure and support network devices including LAN setups and wireless connections.
  • Maintain documentation of technical procedures and user issues to ensure efficient resolution workflows.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement system upgrades and security patches.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and best practices for data protection.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in IT support or desktop support roles with a strong understanding of computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in operating systems including Windows and Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts such as LAN/WAN setup, VPN configuration, firewalls, and network security protocols.
  • Familiarity with IT management tools like Solar Winds for ticketing and issue tracking.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office Suite applications and other common business software.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem resolution.
