We are currently seeking a Quality Control Manager with a background in Underground Utilities to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This role is essential to ensuring our projects meet and exceed industry standards while maintaining compliance with client specifications, safety regulations, and company quality expectations.

Position Overview

The Quality Control Manager (Underground Utilities) will oversee all quality assurance and inspection activities for underground utility construction projects, including water, sewer, and storm systems. The ideal candidate has strong field experience, a deep understanding of QA/QC procedures, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, superintendents, and field crews.

This position requires a hands-on leader who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and committed to ensuring the highest level of workmanship in every project phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCP).
  • Oversee inspections and testing for underground utility installations, including pipe, manholes, and connections.
  • Ensure all materials, equipment, and construction activities comply with project specifications and codes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Review submittals, material certifications, and test results for compliance.
  • Conduct pre-activity meetings and safety/quality briefings with crews.
  • Prepare daily QC reports, non-conformance reports, and inspection logs.
  • Work closely with municipal inspectors and third-party testing agencies.
  • Support project closeout by compiling and submitting all required quality documentation and as-built records.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in underground utilities construction (water, sewer, storm drain).
  • 2+ years in a quality control or inspection management role.
  • Proven understanding of QA/QC procedures, materials testing, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience with municipal or DOT projects is highly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of underground utility construction methods, materials, and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with inspection and testing procedures for pipe installations and backfill compaction.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve quality issues promptly.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interact effectively across teams.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.

Pay: $100, $130,000.00 per year
