We are seeking a full-time Class A CDL Truck Driver to join our team. The truck driver is responsible for the safe, sanitary, and timely transportation of food-grade oils and soybean and canola byproducts to mills and customer facilities. This role requires attention to safety, proper loading and unloading procedures, and adherence to all DOT and company regulations. The ideal candidate has strong driving experience, a solid safety record, and careful attention to sanitation and quality procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate food-grade tanker trucks to transport edible oils to designated customer locations.
- Safely operate trucks to transport meal, hulls, or crude oils to designated customer locations.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, ensuring equipment is clean and sanitary in accordance with food-grade standards.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of products using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper handling, temperature monitoring, and contamination prevention.
- Ensure tanker washouts meet company and customer specifications; verify wash tickets and documentation before loading.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage reports, washout records, and delivery paperwork (bills of lading and weight tickets) in compliance with DOT and company requirements.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT and food-safety-related policies.
- Communicate effectively with logistics coordinator, logistics manager, plant workers, plant manager, and customers regarding delivery status and requirements.
- Promptly report equipment issues, delays, safety concerns, spills, or product concerns to plant manager.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent the company with excellent customer service.
- Follow all sanitation, hygiene, and quality control guidelines to protect product purity.
- Follow all company and regulatory safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of trailers and follow company guidelines to prevent cross-contamination between loads.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Move product on-site with a truck and trailer.
- Load and unload truck with grain trailer for on-site product movement.
- Maintain accurate records of product movements and storage.
- Complete all paperwork forms and checklists required for quality, loading, and unloading.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of trucks and trailers.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to dust, feed ingredients, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Regular climbing, bending, and lifting related to loading / unloading tasks.
- Extended periods of driving and sitting.
- Ability to follow verbal and / or written instructions.
- Ability to lift, pull, and maneuver hoses and equipment as required.
- Possible early mornings, nights, weekends, or overtime depending on customer demand.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Valid CDL Class A is required, with Tanker Endorsement (N) is preferred.
- Clean driving record with a commitment to safety.
- Ability to meet DOT medical and physical requirements.
- Must pass a DOT-compliant pre-employment drug test and will be enrolled in the employer's DOT-mandated random drug and alcohol testing program.
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years Class A CDL driving experience.
- Familiarity with equipment related to meal and hulls delivery (hoppers, dump trailers, tarping systems) preferred.
- Familiarity with tanker operations, hoses, pumps, and related equipment preferred.
- Strong communication and excellent time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Employee should possess a positive attitude, work well with others, and be a team player.
Shift Schedule:
- Normal work schedule – Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM until schedule is complete for the day.
- Schedule is subject to change regularly, so must be flexible to possible early mornings, overtime, weekend work, and holidays based on customer demand.
- Home every day – no overnight travel.
Compensation:
- Compensation is negotiable and based on experience.
