Medical & Vision Billing and Coding Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Vision and Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding vision and medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and electronic health record (EHR) systems to support efficient billing operations and revenue cycle management.

Duties

• Assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes to medical diagnoses and procedures based on documentation.
• Review medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of coding.
• Prepare and submit claims using EMR/EHR systems in compliance with insurance requirements.
• Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through medical collection processes.
• Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities and coding updates.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation for accurate coding.
• Stay current with changes in medical coding standards, regulations, and payer policies.
• Assist in auditing medical records for compliance and accuracy of coding practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related healthcare administrative roles.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and familiarity with medical office workflows.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
• Experience with medical records management and understanding of medical billing procedures.
• Ability to interpret complex clinical documentation accurately for coding purposes.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure error-free billing submissions.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to billing and coding compliance.
