POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Lead plays a critical leadership role in Print Pro's 24/7 flexographic printing operation. This position is responsible for leading a production team to achieve high performance in safety, quality, efficiency, and culture. The Operations Lead acts as both a coach and coordinator—bridging communication between crews, ensuring alignment to business goals, and reinforcing the standards that drive Print Pro's success. This role requires hands-on floor leadership, a strong sense of accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset. The Operations Lead is expected to model Print Pro's Core Values—Quality, Integrity, Relational, and Opportunity—through daily decision-making, communication, and team development.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Leadership & Team Development

  2. Lead, coach, and mentor press operators, assistants, and pit crew members to develop technical and behavioral competencies.

  3. Conduct performance conversations, coaching sessions, and provide regular feedback that reinforces accountability and growth.
  4. Foster a servant-leadership culture built on respect, ownership, and collaboration.
  5. Identify training needs and cross-training opportunities to strengthen team flexibility and coverage.
  6. Recognize and celebrate achievements that demonstrate Print Pro's Core Values.

  7. Operations Management

  8. Direct daily operations for assigned presses and departments, ensuring production plans are met safely, efficiently, and with consistent quality.

  9. Manage shift scheduling, job assignments, and break coverage to maintain optimal press uptime.
  10. Partner with Scheduling, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement to proactively address bottlenecks or downtime events.
  11. Monitor and drive key performance metrics including:

  13. Press Utilization
  14. Pounds Produced
  15. Downtime & Waste

  16. Enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with company policies.

  17. Coordinate job preparation, changeover readiness, and clean-up to ensure smooth shift changes.

  18. Safety & Quality

  19. Model a "Safety First, Always" mindset and ensure compliance with all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout rules.

  20. Conduct safety audits, near-miss reviews, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  21. Verify product quality through in-process checks and ensure all standards and documentation are met.
  22. Address non-conformances promptly, identifying root causes and corrective actions in collaboration with Quality and CI teams.

  23. Communication & Collaboration

  24. Lead daily shift huddles to review priorities, production goals, safety alerts, and staffing updates.

  25. Provide accurate shift handoff reports summarizing production results, issues, and follow-ups for the next team.
  26. Collaborate with the other Operations Leads to ensure consistency and alignment across all shifts.
  27. Maintain open communication with Scheduling, Maintenance, Ink Room, and Pre-Production to support seamless operations.
  28. Escalate equipment or personnel issues appropriately and timely to the Director of Operations.

  29. Continuous Improvement

  30. Partner with the Continuous Improvement Leader to identify, document, and execute process improvements.

  31. Participate in 5S audits and support housekeeping standards across the pressroom.
  32. Use visual management tools and data-driven decision-making to track and improve team performance.
  33. Engage the team in problem-solving using PDCA or DMAIC methods.
  34. Encourage creative thinking and empower operators and assistants to contribute ideas that improve safety, quality, or throughput.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role (Lead, Supervisor, or equivalent).
  • Flexographic printing or converting experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop team members.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to influence across departments.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, production reporting systems, and basic Lean/CI tools.
  • Commitment to servant leadership and Print Pro's Core Values.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

High-volume, fast-paced manufacturing setting with frequent floor interaction. Requires flexibility to adjust to changing production priorities, weekend rotations, and on-call communication when needed. Physical presence and engagement on the production floor are critical to success in this role.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65, $75,000.00 per year
