MISSAUKEE CONSERVATION DISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT POSITION DESCRIPTION
Purpose: The Missaukee Conservation District (MCD) is seeking an Administrative Assistant to aid with data entry, general office support, marketing, and outreach events. The work requires professionalism along with the desire to help the public, partners, and office staff. The goal of every staff member is to fulfill the mission of the Missaukee Conservation District which is to provide leadership in promotion and protection of our County soil, water, and other natural resources through education and technical assistance.
Work is performed under direct supervision of the Missaukee Conservation District Manager with directions from the Missaukee Conservation District Board of Directors.
- Receptionist duties
First in line for phone
Assist the public, both walk-ins and phone inquiries. Provide general information about programs and assistance available at the District, making referrals to other staff or appropriate agencies where necessary.
- General office assistance
Filing, mailing, organizing, typing, copying, labeling, etc.
Assist with the preparation of promotional and educational materials including newsletters, news releases, brochures, flyers and displays.
Assist with the preparation of materials for the monthly board meetings and writing of
minutes.
Assist with the coordination and planning of District events.
Assist other staff members as needed.
Prepare and submit monthly activity report, present report quarterly to board of directors.
Attend monthly board meetings – typically the third Tuesday of every month at 9am.
Contribute to keeping office space clean and inviting to the public.
Maintain metrics database with detailed records of program staff time utilization, presentations completed, number of participants.
- Marketing/Outreach
Post 2x per week on social media
Website updates
Assist the Conservation Outreach Coordinator with activities such as fundraising, promotion, volunteer recruitment, event planning, and during events if needed.
Willingness to write articles
- Other duties as assigned
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, ability, and minimum qualifications
necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Associate degree: experience will be considered in lieu of this qualification.
Knowledge of natural resources and conservation.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to multitask and maintain deadlines.
High degree of proficiency in office procedures.
Must always maintain confidentiality.
Familiarity with marketing and use of social media.
Knowledge and practical experience regarding basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Canva and QuickBooks is plus.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
Polite, courteous, professional, and tactful with the public. Positive attitude and sense of teamwork is a must.
Able to pass background check, possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This job requires the ability to perform the essential functions contained in this description. These include,
but are not limited to, the following requirements:
Able to sit at a desk for extended periods.
Able to bend over to access files.
Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an office environment 20 hours per week. Daily shift is to be determined.
May be required occasionally to attend meetings, special events and training meetings outside the normal work schedule with advance notice provided.
DETAILS:
Wages are $18 per hour with potential to increase annually based on performance evaluation, continued training and education. Benefits include paid holidays when falling on scheduled day to work, vacation days after probation and sick leave; employer contributes $2500 to Health Reimbursement
