Dishwasher: Part Time

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation within the kitchen and dishwashing areas. This includes cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment using both machine and manual methods. The role also involves supporting overall kitchen cleanliness, including trash disposal, floor maintenance, and general sanitation. Additionally, the Dishwasher may assist with food preparation once all primary cleaning duties are completed and is expected to participate in ongoing training and compliance efforts.

Essential Functions/Duties:

• Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glassware, tableware, and cooking utensils, then place them in racks for the dish machine.
• Sort and stack clean dishes; carry them to the cook's line and proper storage areas.
• Rewash any soiled dishes before delivery.
• Change dishwater in the dish machine regularly.
• Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand as needed.
• Remove trash and garbage and take it to the dumpster.
• Set up and break down the dishwashing area.
• Clean, roll, and unroll mats in the kitchen.
• Fill and empty soak tubs with cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors.
• Wipe up spills promptly to keep floors dry and safe.
• Conduct general restaurant cleaning tasks as directed.
• Notify the manager immediately if dish machine wash or rinse temperatures fall below safety standards.
• Follow proper hand sanitation protocols at all times.
• Assist culinary staff with food preparation only after completing all assigned cleaning duties, ensuring quality and timing are not compromised.
• Participate in and complete all required ongoing training, including monthly online and in-person training, annual skills competencies education, and role-specific certifications, to ensure continued competence and adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This position may be full-time or part-time in a health care facility that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Days and hours of work vary based on need. Rotating shifts as well as evening, weekend, holiday and work during inclement weather will be required. This is a part time position.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED (required or being pursued by high school student)
• Prior Experience working in commercial kitchen (Preferred)
• Completion of the Highlands Hearthstone Ambassador training within 30 days of employment (Required)

Work Authorization/Security Clearances:

• Medical Screening
• Criminal History Clearance
• FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Only required if you have not lived in PA for the last 2 years)
• Immigration and naturalization (I-9) Clearance

Physical Requirements and Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Visual acuity must be adequate to perform job duties, including reading and comprehending labels on chemicals.
• This position is continuously required to walk, climb crouch, reach above shoulder, lift from waist level up, lift above shoulders/head, and lift 25 lbs.
• This position is occasionally required to sit, bend, squat, crawl, kneel, balance, pull with force, push/push up to 350 lbs., lift from floor level up, lift 50 lbs. and lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Safety Hazards and Physical Environment:

• This job operates in a kitchen environment. This role routinely uses sinks and dishwashers and tools to clean kitchen appliances. Employees in this role are frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, and garbage disposals.
• May be exposed to blood borne pathogens.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases.
• May be exposed to potential electrical shock
• May be exposed to toxic, caustic, chemicals, and / or detergents
• May be exposed to rare occasions during which it is necessary to interact with a resident exhibiting aggressive behavior.
