Join our essential logistics team in Washington, D.C. as a Material Handler! In this vital role, you will be responsible for the movement and organization of materials within our distribution center. This includes receiving goods, transporting them to appropriate storage areas, and preparing them for outbound shipment. Your duties will involve operating various types of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, to ensure efficient workflow. A strong emphasis on Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to follow all established protocols and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) diligently. This position requires physical strength for tasks involving Lifting and a keen eye for detail to maintain accurate inventory counts and prevent damage to goods. You will play a key part in the overall efficiency of our supply chain operations. The ideal candidate is reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong understanding of warehouse Safety procedures. Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and store incoming materials and products.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transport materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining warehouse inventory.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper working order and report any issues.
- Prepare materials for shipment, ensuring accurate counts and proper packaging.
- Adhere strictly to all Safety guidelines and wear designated PPE.
- Participate in inventory control activities.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operator certification is highly preferred.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including consistent Lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of warehouse Safety best practices and the use of PPE.
- Understanding of basic Logistics principles.
- Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
