At NHS Property Services, we believe our people are our greatest asset. That’s why we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Our People Strategy - Get, Grow, and Keep Great People, is all about building a values-driven culture where colleagues and customers are at the heart of everything we do.
We’re looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer on a 15month FTC with advanced Terraform expertise and strong cloud architecture skills to help us build secure, scalable, and high-performing digital services. You’ll work across the full engineering lifecycle, designing and delivering cloudnative solutions that support organisational goals and improve user experiences across the NHS estate.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, shape modern engineering practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our digital platforms.
Who you are
You’re a cloud-focused engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and building robust, well-architected digital services. You’re confident working end-to-end across the development lifecycle and thrive in an environment where collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement are part of everyday work.
You bring deep experience across Azure PaaS and networking from App Services and API Management to VNets, Private Endpoints, NSGs, KeyVaults, and Managed Identities. You understand how to design secure, scalable cloud environments, build APIs, apply OAuth2/OpenID Connect standards, and use monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Kusto to keep systems healthy and observable.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain cloud-based applications, services, and infrastructure using modern engineering practices.
Architect and implement cloud solutions across Azure (and ideally AWS/GCP), ensuring scalability, security, performance, and resilience.
Use advanced Terraform (and/or Bicep) to create, manage, and optimise InfrastructureasCode deployments.
Work with Azure PaaS components such as App Services, Azure SQL, API Management, Storage Accounts, KeyVaults, and Application Gateways.
Design and support Azure networking, including VNets, Private Endpoints, NSGs, and Managed Identities.
Apply a strong understanding of API endpoints, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect to build secure, well-integrated services.
Use Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Kusto Query Language (KQL), and Workbooks to deliver effective monitoring and observability.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality digital solutions that meet user needs.
Write clean, efficient, and wellstructured code, ensuring maintainability and alignment with engineering standards.
Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the engineering team.
Where you’ll be
This is a hybrid role with travel to our Canary Wharf when required.
What we can offer you
