We are hiring a Shipping Clerk for our busy logistics hub in Chicago, Illinois. The Shipping Clerk is essential for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. This role involves preparing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, packing orders, and maintaining the shipping area. You will be responsible for verifying outgoing orders against documentation, ensuring correct items and quantities are shipped. A strong understanding of shipping procedures and carrier requirements is beneficial. This position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Adherence to all safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE , is paramount. This role involves considerable physical work, including the lifting of packages and moving of goods. Experience with shipping software and manifest systems is a plus. As a key player in our logistics operations, you will contribute directly to customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate deliveries. Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required shipping documents.
- Verify outgoing orders against picking lists to ensure accuracy.
- Pack orders securely and efficiently for shipment, selecting appropriate packaging materials.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and track shipments.
- Operate pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Keep the shipping area clean, organized, and safe.
- Ensure compliance with all PPE requirements and company safety guidelines.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or a related warehouse role.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carrier systems.
- Ability to handle packages and perform lifting tasks up to 40 lbs.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong understanding of logistics and shipping best practices.
- Commitment to workplace safety and correct PPE usage.
