Seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Material Handler for our busy facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the warehouse. This role is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring that products are moved, stored, and prepared for shipment correctly. If you have experience operating forklifts and a strong commitment to safety, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move goods within the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring materials are handled with care.
- Transport raw materials, finished goods, and other items to and from production, storage, or shipping areas.
- Stack and arrange materials in designated areas, ensuring proper placement and stability.
- Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure it is in good working order and report any issues immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to material handling and logistics.
- Assist with inventory counts and verification as needed.
- Ensure the correct use of PPE at all times.
- Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of safety.
- Perform tasks that involve lifting and maneuvering of materials.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role.
- Valid forklift operation certification or proven ability to operate forklift safely.
- Ability to perform tasks involving frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials up to 70 lbs.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Experience with various types of material handling equipment.
- Strong understanding of logistics and warehouse operations.
- Good physical stamina and coordination.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
