Base pay range

CA$38.32/hr - CA$55.25/hr

The opportunity:

Join the University of Manitoba’s Office of Research Services as an Application Developer & Data Analyst and play a key role in shaping the digital backbone of our research enterprise. In this dynamic, full‑time position, you’ll design and develop web applications, analyze complex datasets, and deliver reporting tools that empower strategic decision‑making at the highest level. The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related IT diploma required.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in Information Technology, Network and Communication Systems required.
  • Experience with troubleshooting applications and debugging existing code is required.
  • Experience using relational database systems such as Oracle, MySQL and SQL Server is required.
  • Experience in data analysis, writing SQL queries, and producing reports is required.
  • Experience using GitLab for code management and deployment is required.
  • Experience with business reporting tools such as Power BI is an asset.
  • Experience with Composer for PHP dependency management is an asset.
  • Experience with application error tracking and analytics systems are an asset.
  • Experience with Linux package installation and webserver configuration is an asset.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication required.
  • Ability to determine requirements and to consult effectively with users required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and manage time effectively required.
  • Ability to instruct and train staff members on applications required.
  • Knowledge of university research business processes is an asset.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
