Supplier Quality Engineer – Magna International

Responsibilities- Lead, develop, and empower team members.
- Support compliance to Magna Standards such as MMSA, MAFACT and MQS systems.
- Ensure compliance with IATF, ISO 14001 and TISAX systems and other legislative requirements.
- Promote and ensure adherence to Company, Legislative and Magna Safety practices.
- Monitor and improve initiatives related to Key Operating Indicators assigned by GM.
- Identify and mitigate Health & Safety concerns and maintain compliance with legislation.
- Support quality, safety, environmental and sustainability objectives.
- Complete corrective and preventive actions for non‑conformance and assist with audit findings.
- Participate in continuous improvement, cost‑reduction activities and problem‑solving methods.
- Participate in company meetings and key events as required.
- Ensure adherence to daily 5S activities and cleaning schedule.
- Collaborate with other departments toward overall plant goals.
- Assist in developing and implementing inspection and testing procedures to ensure product quality.
- Conduct inspections and audits of manufacturing processes and products, document non‑compliance findings, and follow up on necessary improvements.
- Collaborate with product development teams to integrate quality considerations into design and development.
- Coordinate supplier engineering change approvals, update internal systems, and respond to escalation issues.
- Notify supplier of concerns/rejects, compile Supplier Performance reports, and conduct supplier performance reviews and improvement plans.
- Verify compliance to dimensional, material, performance and customer‑specific requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis on product issues and work with team members to eliminate or control causes.
- Act as authority to stop production, organize containment activities, and release product back to production.
- Support required deliverables for new projects or programs.
- Provide backup support for department Support Staff as required.
- Education: University degree/college diploma in a related field; CQE Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
- Training: APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, Root Cause Analysis, Quality Management System (IATF); Project Management an asset.
- Experience: 5 years in a related field preferred.
- Characteristics: Excellent communication, troubleshooting, leadership, teamwork, empowerment, confidentiality and integrity.
- Technical: Proficient computer skills, statistical software, automotive knowledge an asset.
Protect sensitive information, report suspected security incidents, use information solely for intended purpose, and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
