Cloud Operations Support Engineer

Join Siemens Digital Industries Software in our Managed Cloud Services Team. This role ensures efficient operation of our cloud infrastructure supporting critical applications and services. Ability to work Pacific Time Zone (8 AM - 5 PM PT) is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: support, troubleshoot, and remediate virtual machines, containers, and cloud-native services across Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Vendor Collaboration: liaise with cloud service providers and other vendors to resolve support issues and optimize delivery.
  • Resource Deployment & Orchestration: deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines, storage, networking, and platform services.
  • Incident & Service Request Resolution: act as Level I/II escalation for complex incidents and service requests related to cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Cloud Projects: participate in and lead cloud-focused projects, including new service implementations, infrastructure upgrades, and migrations.
  • Follow-the-sun/on‑call: the position largely avoids on‑call but includes backup for critical issues.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written).
  • 3+ years professional experience in Cloud Operations, Infrastructure Management, or Systems Administration with emphasis on cloud platforms.
  • Linux proficiency in cloud environments (RHEL, CentOS, SLES, Ubuntu); Windows experience is a plus.
  • Managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) in large‑scale, multi‑region enterprise settings.
  • Experience with cloud virtualization technologies (EC2, Azure VMs, GCE) and VDI solutions.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑native monitoring, logging, and configuration management tools.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL processes (incident, problem, change).
  • Support for software development teams, meeting defined SLAs.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking (VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancers, VPNs).
  • Time‑management and prioritization to balance daily operations with projects.
  • Team player in cross‑functional, matrixed environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud storage solutions (S3, EBS, Azure Blob, GCS).
  • Adaptability to dynamic cloud roles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Nice to Have
  • Automation & IaC: scripts and solutions to streamline operations (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell scripting.
  • Basic cloud service provider certifications.
