Project Engineer – Mechanical

Global Cellulose Fibers is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead design and project delivery at the Grande Prairie Pulp Mill.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design of facility and pipeline projects, including equipment sizing, piping layout, and construction interfaces.
  • Prepare detailed engineering deliverables—engineering notes, calculations, specifications, and P&IDs.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop complete project work packages for field and construction services.
  • Review vendor drawings, scope changes, and inspection services to ensure quality and compliance with mechanical standards.
  • Provide process safety engineering support, including sizing of safety devices and review of management of change submissions.
  • Participate in design reviews, mentor Engineering in Training, and verify the technical quality of engineering deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; 5‑10 years of experience in process piping and mechanical design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA and ability to stamp mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with ASME B31.1, B31.3, Boiler Pressure Vessel codes, and Alberta Boilers Branch standards.
  • Knowledge of API 520, 521 and pressure‑relieving standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor and SAP.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical engineering competence in an industrial environment.
