Are you a visionary artist with a passion for transforming original artwork into beautiful products? Do you possess a strong sense of style for home and excel at bringing surface designs to life across a diverse range of homeware? Loblaw Companies Limited is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Surface Designer to join our dynamic Home & Entertainment Team.

You will be the creative force behind original surface designs for all Home and Entertainment categories. Your innovative ideas and original artwork will set trends and captivate customers, bridging the gap between artistic expression and market success.

• Research and identify surface design trends within the homeware market
• Develop original artwork using a variety of mediums, from traditional paint and sketch to advanced digital illustrations, icons, patterns and textures across various substrates
• Demonstrate versatility and capability in designing across all categories, including home textiles, tabletop, paper goods, and other homeware products
• Consistently produce a high volume of original artwork, ensuring a continuous flow of fresh design each week
• Own the entire creative process, from initial conceptualization through to final production
• Proactively contribute original artworks that consistently adhere to Loblaw brands’ attributes
• React to sale data, adjusting designs to optimize market appeal and performance
• Maintain a strong understanding of the legalities surrounding proprietary design to safeguard our intellectual property

• Present your innovation design concepts and ideas to Senior Manager Surface Design & Product Managers
• Partner closely with the Product Management team throughout the development cycle, offering creative solutions to design challenges
• Foster a collaborative environment, bringing your team-player attitude to every project

• Develop precise templates for design specification packages, catering to multiple levels of intensity and various production processes
• Prepare highly accurate spec packages for vendors, ensuring flawless execution
• Meticulously check initial vendor samples against specifications, coordinating feedback with the Senior Manager Surface Design & Product Managers
• Manage all incoming materials for the studio efficiently
• Consistently achieve tasks within provided timelines, demonstrating strong organizational skills

• 5+ years of relevant studio experience, ideally within a fast‑paced retail or consumer goods environment
• A Degree or Diploma in Illustration, Graphic Design, or a related creative field
• Expert level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
• A strong sense of style and an exceptional understanding of mass retail, specifically within the Home sector. Possess a keen eye for design and meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine love for working in a collaborative team environment
• The ability to multitask effectively across a high volume of projects, work well under pressure, and consistently meet tight deadlines
• A proactive problem-solver with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence
• A dedication to promoting a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging
