Structural Engineer

Join Arcadis as a Structural Engineer in our Toronto West office. Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

Our Structural Team is seeking a Senior or Intermediate Structural Engineer to develop and manage projects in transportation, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings & structures, ensuring conformance with building codes. Responsibilities include foundation & structural and seismic analysis, building and structural inspections, and coordination with other disciplines across Arcadis offices worldwide.

• Lead the structural analysis & design of structures and the preparation of drawings and specifications
• Carry out seismic analysis, seismic design, and seismic performance assessment
• Coordinate with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.)
• Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
• Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
• Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
• Review and respond to submittals (RFI's, shop drawings, etc.) during CA phase
• Provide direction to and work with Engineering & CAD staff
• Provide peer reviews of other engineers’ work
• Mentorship to Jr. Engineers
• Perform QA/QC activities

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s in Structural Engineering is an asset
• Minimum 6 years relevant experience in structural design
• Registered P. Eng. in Ontario province; registration in other provinces is an asset
• Knowledge of Canadian design standards and codes; knowledge of US codes is an asset
• Ability to lead teams of engineers and CAD staff
• Proficiency in structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000
• Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam
• Knowledge of 3D BIM (REVTIT & Navisworks) is an asset
• Strong project management and coordination skills; collaborative attitude
• Effective communication in English (verbal & written)
• Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed
