We are looking for a Senior Transportation Designer to join our growing team in Calgary.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the technical design, layout, and calculations of urban and rural roadways and highways.
  • Lead and participate in the creation of final design deliverables and manage schedules and time allocation on the technical design tasks.
  • Work closely with the engineering and senior technical staff to develop high‑quality and technically accurate transportation related designs.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of tender documents and project cost estimates, and be accountable for the designs, tender documents and calculations prepared for the design team and client.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering, with 5+ years of experience in the engineering and construction industry; current ASET or APEGA certification preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads for the development of engineering designs and drawings.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients and teams using platforms like Microsoft Teams; adaptable to evolving technology and software tools.
  • Experience with all aspects of highway and intersection design (e.g. alignments, geometrics, staging, utilities, quantities, cost estimates, and documentation). Specific experience working with points, alignments, creating surfaces, running sections and profiles, calculating volumes, and creating output files are desired assets.
  • A sound understanding of drafting standards and their application to the design process.
  • Experience developing conceptual and functional level designs will also be considered a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with Alberta Transportation, City of Calgary, TAC, and other regional and municipal design standards.
  • Ability to estimate design level of effort, meet milestone schedule deliverables and implement mitigation measures as required.
  • Research capabilities and analytical skills to effectively present complex information to internal staff, key stakeholders, and management.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive Group Benefits available from day one for all permanent employees working at least 20 hours per week.
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program.
  • Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with up to 4% employer contribution.
  • As an employee‑owned company, an annual opportunity to purchase shares for all employees.
  • Flexible work schedule in a hybrid work mode.
