Sr. Traffic Engineer, Smart Mobility – Ontario or Tustin, CA. The Smart Mobility Practice at David Evans and Associates, Inc. seeks a Sr. Traffic Engineer focused on traffic engineering design and analysis, technical leadership, business development, and delivery of complex transportation infrastructure for Caltrans District 8 or 12. This role may involve traffic signals, signing, striping, temporary traffic control, and ITS communications. There is an opportunity to supervise and mentor team members and help grow the California team and the DEA Smart Mobility practice.
What You’ll Do- Project Delivery: Managing traffic engineering design and/or analysis tasks or projects of varying scope, schedule, and budget, with Quality Management and the ability to stamp project plans.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and task leadership for transportation projects and collaborate with Smart Mobility leaders in other markets and across DEA’s business units to assist with staffing for project and business development opportunities.
- Business Development: Cultivate and maintain effective client relationships to support business development opportunities.
- Staff Development: Promote employee development and provide mentoring and training for junior staff.
- Talent Management: Assist the Smart Mobility team in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Current Professional Civil (PE) License in California.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in traffic engineering, with hands-on expertise in design and analysis.
- Collaborative team player who communicates effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ownership and initiative in delivering high-quality work.
- Recent and relevant project experience with Caltrans District 8 or 12 involving complex transportation infrastructure delivery.
- Experience leading project teams.
- Experience training others in fundamentals of traffic design tasks.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
