The Coordinator, Computational Biomedicine position will develop and implement biomedical and health-related computational tools, databases, and software pipelines to advance the Department of Biomedical Sciences' research, teaching, and service mission. The role includes applying modern data science methods to analyze large experimental datasets, enhance instructional effectiveness, and support student skill development in computational approaches. Incumbents will collaborate with faculty and staff to modernize departmental operations and promote data-driven decision-making. The incumbent will also contribute to achieving institutional goals by advancing efficiency, fostering innovation, and enhancing the impact of departmental activities while also supporting revenue-generating initiatives through the development of shared computational resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain computational tools, databases, and software pipelines that enhance departmental productivity and efficiency

  2. Collaborate with faculty, trainees, and 4CYTE teams (BioBridge, Collaboratory, Academy, and xCHANGE) to integrate data-driven methods and AI/Tech Core capabilities across departmental activities.

  3. Perform complex statistical, computational, and machine learning analyses on multimodal biomedical and neuroscience datasets (e.g., to include imaging, omics, behavioral, and physiological data) to advance research goals.

  4. Provide data science/computational consultation, technical support, and training to departmental staff, faculty, and students.

  5. Assist in revenue-generating initiatives, including preparing data analyses and materials for grant proposals, developing shared computational resources that enhance external funding competitiveness, and exploring collaborative partnerships or service-based funding models that sustain 4CYTE's infrastructure.

  6. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, present computational findings, and contribute to publications, reports, and strategic planning related to data/computational innovation.

  7. Support educational innovation by developing data-driven instructional materials, computational learning modules, and workshops that strengthen student and faculty data literacy.

  8. Enhance data governance and reproducibility by implementing best practices for data management, documentation, version control, and security across departmental projects.

  9. Monitor and report progress on computational initiatives, identifying achievements, needs, and strategies that advance departmental goals and long-term sustainability.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor's degree

Proficiency in Python, including Pandas, TensorFlow and/or PyTorch libraries.

Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques, particularly deep learning.

Ability to work collaboratively in a research-oriented environment.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Master's degree in Computational, Biomedical, Related

Full-stack development experience.

Foundational knowledge in linear algebra, graph theory, and statistics.

Understanding of biomedical science concepts.
