GCP Site Reliability Engineer

We are looking for a GCP Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to ensure the reliability, availability, scalability, and performance of cloud-native applications running on Google Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate will apply software engineering principles to infrastructure and operations, automate systems, and improve reliability through monitoring, observability, and incident management.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply SRE principles to maintain and improve system reliability and availability
• Design, build, and operate highly scalable and resilient systems on GCP
• Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets
• Automate operational tasks using code and tooling
• Manage and operate GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) clusters
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting reliability and rapid deployments
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus, Grafana
• Lead incident response, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and drive postmortems
• Improve system observability and performance tuning
• Collaborate with development, security, and platform teams
• Ensure security, compliance, and cost efficiency across GCP environments

Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes / GKE
• Solid understanding of SRE concepts (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, toil reduction)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Strong experience with Linux systems and networking
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Hands-on experience with monitoring & observability tools
• Experience in incident management and on-call rotations
• Scripting/programming skills in Python, Go, or Bash

GCP Services Experience

• Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run
• Cloud Load Balancing, VPC, Cloud DNS
• Cloud Monitoring & Cloud Logging
• IAM & security best practices
• Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Pub/Sub (nice to have)

Preferred Qualifications

• GCP Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Professional SRE certification
• Experience implementing SLO-based alerting
• Experience with Chaos Engineering
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices
• Experience with multi-region and disaster recovery architectures
• Familiarity with FinOps / cost optimization
